Drawing from my experience, I explore the subtleties of a woman's identity evolving in today's society, where traditionally feminine characteristics - grace, fragility, passivity, nurture - cohabit, at times conflictually, with opposite traits--assertiveness, action, independence and strength. My focus is mainly on portraiture. I am fascinated by the eyes, which I often exaggerate in size as a gateway into one's inner world. I also work with abstraction. The formal elements of color, shape and line allow me to delve into my subject matter in a more loose, free flowing manner.
