Drawing from my experience, I explore my identity as woman in today's society, dealing with the push and pull between traditionally feminine traits - nurture, passivity, emotion- and more action-oriented characteristics, stereotypically associated to masculinity, such as independence, boldness and strength. My focus is mainly on portraiture. I am fascinated by the eyes, which I often exaggerate in size as a gateway into one's inner world. I also work with abstraction. The formal elements of color, shape and line allow me to delve into my subject matter in a more loose, free flowing manner.
